How to Configure Comment Notifications for your posts in WordPress
Overview
By default, WordPress notifies all administrators when a new comment is posted. If you want to stop these emails for one specific person while keeping them active for others, use one of the options below. If you don't want to use a plugin or turn off comments for all admin users, reach out to support@elevationweb.org for a customization.
Use the "Better Notifications" Plugin
This gives you a visual dashboard to choose exactly who gets notified.
-
Install the Better Notifications for WordPress plugin.
-
Go to Notifications > Add New.
-
Under Notification For, select New Comment.
-
In the Send To box, select only the specific admins who should receive the alerts.
-
Click Save.
How to Activate or Deactivate Comments
If you want to turn the comment section on or off for your entire site or for specific posts, follow these steps:
For the Entire Site (Global Setting)
This controls whether comments are allowed on future posts you publish.
-
Go to Settings > Discussion.
-
Under Default post settings, check or uncheck the box: "Allow people to submit comments on new posts."
-
Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.
For a Single Post or Page
You can override the global setting for an individual post if you want to close comments on a specific topic.
-
Open the specific Post or Page in the editor.
-
In the right-hand sidebar, find the Discussion tab.
-
Check or uncheck Allow comments.
-
Click Update.
